The London West Works project was commissioned by London West Learning and Skills Council in November 2007 to address the issues around sustainable employment for people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and for employers. The Skills and Learning for London Partnership are managing the project. At the end of phase 1 June 2008, the project was evaluated and Raising Expectations and Aspirations, Employer Engagement, Job Coaching and Partnership Working were identified as areas for continued development. The employer toolkit Work on Ability and the learner toolkit Focus on Ability were produced. In phase 2 a series of training workshops were delivered to address the key areas mentioned above. At the end of phase 2 Provider protocols were produced base on the results of the work carried out in phase 1 and 2. The protocols include guidance for action planning to implement new and effective processes and this is currently being disseminated via a series of Action Planning training courses.
